The model and process of devolved government in Northern Ireland are unique, and the policy development process here is highly inclusive and transparent. Despite this, an understanding of how policy is developed is not, and should not be, confined to just a few specialists within government and the public sector. It is something that is relevant to those in the ‘front line’ of service delivery, including those in schools, hospitals or social security offices as well as those more directly involved in policy-making roles within central government departments. Promoting good practice in policy-making is fundamental to the delivery of quality outcomes for citizens and to the realisation of public sector reform.
agendaNi has assembled this seminar which examines some of the key issues around policy-making in the Northern Ireland context through an expert panel of local and visiting speakers. It will offer participants insight into the policy-making process and guidance on key issues such as mainstreaming equality in public policy-making and the role of evidence in policy formulation. There will be a high level of interaction between speakers and participants and maximum opportunity for learning and sharing best practice.
Featured speakers include:
| Ronnie Spence former Northern Ireland Permanent Secretary |
Victor Hewitt Director Economic Research Institute of Northern Ireland |
||
| Paul Priestly Permanent Secretary Department for Regional Development |
Evelyn Collins Chief Executive Equality Commission for Northern Ireland |
||
| Angela Hodkinson Senior Manager Deloitte |
Robin Guthrie Managing Director Cherton |
